Liz and Maddie continue to get better and better at reaching out and grabbing stuff. The parrot on their playmat is a favorite, and so is the monkey (the monkey perhaps a bit better because his legs are long enough to get into their mouths!) Both girls hold their heads up very well, and Liz can roll from tummy to back pretty consistently (we're not sure if she's doing it on purpose, but she doesn't care for being on her belly!) They're developmentally right on track (despite my worrying, but as Gary says, that's my job!) We even got a first giggle from Maddie this evening after her bath (I can't figure out what she was laughing at, so I couldn't make her do it again!)
The girls are now four months old!
They had their latest doctors appointment, along with the next round of shots today. Miss Elizabeth weighs in at 11 pounds 8 ounces, while Miss Madeline maintains the lead at 12 pounds 5 ounces. Maddie also has a 1/4 inch on Liz in height, though if you look at them in the crib together, you'd swear it was much much more than that! The shots were maybe a little less traumatic this time (though maybe it's just because we knew what to expect this time around!), but they're still not fans (go figure!)
This past weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Carlson came for a visit! They picked the perfect weekend - the previous weekend had been cool and rainy all weekend, this past weekend was sunny and in the 60s! Perfect springtime weather in Chicago!
Everyone who comes to visit us must take pictures of the four of us - we seem to only take pictures of the girls when it's just us!
...as usual, more pictures in the Flickr Album
Thanks to the perfect weather, we got to go out for a few nice long walks (which Cody was happy about!) We all went out to dinner at Olive Garden Saturday evening, where the girls were very well behaved, despite not wanting to eat their dinner. And Sunday night, Grandma and Grandpa babysat, while Gary and I enjoyed an evening out (with dinner at the Melting Pot! YUM!) It was a great weekend!
...and just because a few people asked, the twin sale is a consignment sale put on by the local Mothers of Twins Club. (Actually there were two different clubs BOTH holding sales there that day.)
